July Employee Experience Ideas

Have you planned your July employee experience ideas?

An exceptional employee experience means employees are more likely to be engaged, which leads to improvement in collaboration, innovation, growth, retention, and attraction.

Employee experience activities such as learning lunches, workplace celebrations and employee-led clubs can significantly boost team morale and productivity.

Each month, WRK+ will share with you an engagement, wellness, diversity, and ESG activity idea to inspire and give you ideas of what can be done with your team this month.

International Day of Friendship

30th July 2024

Today, the United Nations encourage us to celebrate our friendships, with the intent of working towards world peace, happiness, and unity.

The UN encourages workplaces to hold events and activities that promote kindness and togetherness, to strengthen a culture of respect, diversity, and social harmony.

Challenge your employees to practice one random act of kindness on a colleague, or let their team know how much they are appreciated. It is a great opportunity to remind your team of the peer-to-peer recognition programs available in your organisation.

Another idea for International Day of Friendship is to reconnect with a colleague you have lost touch with. It is a great reminder to reconnect with colleagues that may be working remotely. Rebuilding the workplace community leads to a more connected and united workplace.

NAIDOC Week

7-14 July 2024

This week we celebrate the unique culture and history of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, the original custodians of this nation that we call home.

This year's theme, "Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud", invites all to stand in solidarity to amplify the voices that have long been silenced.

With various cultural activities and events across Australia, your organisation can encourage employees to participate in these events to celebrate and learn more about this incredible culture and its traditions, or even host an event at your workplace. You can book a range of Aboriginal talks, ceremonies, or workshops to help your employees get involved in this important Australian celebration of the oldest continuing culture on our planet.

Start of Summer Olympics

26th July 2024

Did you know that Australia is one of only five countries to have participated in every Summer Olympic Games?!

You can bring the Olympics spirit to life in the office by cheering on the green and gold with office games such as mental gymnastics, elastic band archery, or rubbish bin basketball.

With the Olympics right around the corner, people everywhere are no doubt being inspired to get moving in new ways.

Whether it’s picking up strength training for the first time, hitting the mat for their first Pilates flow, jumping in the saddle and giving Spin a go, or something else – WithU can help. Why not encourage your employees to try something new with free access to this award-winning fitness app?

You can support your employees this July by offering them free access to  WithU, which features hundreds of health tips to help them make positive changes in their everyday life.

Simplicity Day

12th July 2024

Today we celebrate Simplicity Day to honour the birthday of Henry David Thoreau, a philosopher who advocated for a simple life.

Thoreau believed that by simplifying our lives, we could reduce stress, increase productivity, and live more fulfilling lives.

This is a great opportunity to partner with a charity organisation and encourage your team to simplify their life by seeing what they can donate to someone else.

Workplace Giving programs are a great way to promote a sense of belonging, contribute to society as a team, and connect to your organisation’s purpose.

Engaging and Easy Experiences for the Month

5th July - Workaholics Day

This unofficial holiday is a good reminder that work-life balance is crucial for your employees wellbeing. Workaholics are often socially accepted and can be admired and even rewarded in the workplace. This can send mixed messages to your employees, so it is important to be consistent and enforce any work-life balance mentality that your organisation has. Recognise who your workaholics are and strive to remind them that like any addiction, too much time working can jeopardise their health, family and home life, as well as their productivity at work. For all the workaholics, today is a day to unplug and do something you enjoy that is not work related! Your work projects will still be there waiting for you on Monday...

7th July – World Chocolate Day

The one day of the year you won't need to feel guilty about heading to the vending machine to buy your mid-afternoon chocolate pick-me-up! Your workplace can quickly make this your team's favourite day of the year, by surprising them with a chocolate treat to celebrate World Chocolate Day. Join in this worldwide celebration by ordering in some chocolate filled sweets, gourmet chocolate hampers to share, or organising decadent premium hot chocolates for everyone to enjoy. A simple way to brighten up everyone's day. Don't forget to post your chocolate-appreciative snaps on your socials.

13th July – Embrace Your Geekiness Day

The original meaning of the word 'geek' may surprise you. It dates back to the 1500s and was used to describe circus performers whose strange talents were used for entertainment purposes. Today, the word has evolved to describe people who are enthusiastic about a particular field, usually technology-based, and is often a badge worn with pride. Do any of your employees consider themselves a modern-day geek? Celebrate them and let them stand loud and proud, showcasing their chosen passion, expertise, and knowledge.

17th July – World Emoji Day 😀

Did you know that over 5 billion emojis are sent everyday? We all use emojis, so why not celebrate them! The Japanese word 'emoji' roughly translates to 'picture word' and was created in 1990 by Shigetaka Kurita, while working for a Japanese telecom company. Today's the day to use as many emojis as you want. Challenge your employees by telling a story via emojis and have your team decode it. Don't forget to share the celebration and use the hashtag #WorldEmojiDay.

24th July – International Self Care Day

Today is the perfect day to encourage your team to prioritise self-care and make it a part of their lifestyle. Motivate your team members to treat themselves by sharing ways to better take care of their wellbeing.
